Ready for Dentures?

As we age, we will inevitably start to lose our natural teeth to gum disease, decay, or injury. This process can make it uncomfortable to eat correctly and make us feel embarrassed if many teeth are missing.

Consequently, at Georgian Square Dental, we recommend that patients consider having dentures fitted to restore their confident smiles. Besides, once you get used to the removable appliance, it will make you feel like you have a complete set of teeth again.

Dentures will also provide a fantastic alternative to implants or bridges when these procedures are unsuitable for specific reasons.

Partial or full dentures?
Depending on the patients’ condition, full dentures are not always required, and partial ones can be fitted. However, we strive to save as many teeth as possible when deciding which option of denture works best for our patients.

Therefore, we suggest to our patients that when one or more teeth on the same arch are missing, partial dentures are the best way forward.

On the other hand, full dentures were designed to restore the function and esthetics of the natural dentition and are endorsed when all the upper and lower teeth need replacing.

On a final note, whether you opt for partial or complete dentures, both should be cleaned daily. To understand a little more about how to look after your dentures to maintain oral hygiene, click here to read our home care instructions.
