Permanent, Natural-Looking Tooth Replacement

Book a Consultation

A missing tooth affects more than your smile. It affects how you eat, how you speak, and how you feel about yourself. Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth — they look, feel, and function like natural teeth, and with proper care, they can last a lifetime.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that is placed into the jawbone where a tooth root once was. Over several weeks, the implant integrates with the bone through a natural process called osseointegration. Once integrated, a custom ceramic crown is attached to the implant — creating a replacement tooth that looks and functions exactly like the natural one it replaces.

The three components of a dental implant:

  • The implant post (titanium root) — placed in the jawbone
  • The abutment — connects the post to the crown
  • The crown — the visible, natural-looking tooth

Why Choose Implants Over Other Options?

  • Dental implants vs. bridges — A bridge requires grinding down the two teeth on either side of the gap to serve as anchors. Implants leave surrounding teeth completely untouched.
  • Dental implants vs. dentures — Dentures can shift, require adhesives, and need to be removed for cleaning. Implants are fixed, stable, and cared for exactly like natural teeth.
  • Dental implants vs. doing nothing — When a tooth is lost and not replaced, the jawbone beneath it begins to deteriorate. This affects the shape of your face over time and can put neighbouring teeth at risk. Implants preserve the jawbone and the integrity of your smile.

Your Implant Journey

  • Consultation — Dr. Gupta reviews your dental and medical history, examines your mouth and bone density, and determines whether you're a good implant candidate. Most healthy adults are.
  • Treatment Planning — We use digital imaging to plan the precise placement of your implant before any procedure takes place. You'll understand every step before we begin.
  • Implant Placement — The titanium post is placed under local anesthetic. The procedure is typically more comfortable than patients expect. Most people return to normal activities the next day.
  • Healing Period — Over the next 3–6 months, the implant integrates with your jawbone. During this time, a temporary crown is placed so there's no visible gap.
  • Crown Placement — Once integration is confirmed, your custom permanent crown is attached. From this point forward, your implant functions and is cared for like any natural tooth.

Frequently Asked Questions — Dental Implants

How much do dental implants cost in White Rock?

A single implant including the crown typically ranges from $2,500–$5,000 CAD. After your consultation, we provide a full itemized quote. Some insurance plans provide partial coverage for implants.

Does insurance cover dental implants?

Coverage varies by plan. Many insurance plans cover some portion of the cost. We bill directly on your behalf and will clarify your specific benefits before treatment.

Am I a candidate for implants?

Most adults in good general health are candidates. The most important factor is adequate jawbone density to support the implant. If bone loss has occurred (which is common after tooth loss), bone grafting may be recommended first. Dr. Gupta will assess this at your consultation.

Is the procedure painful?

The procedure is performed under local anesthetic and most patients report less discomfort than they expected. Some soreness in the days following is normal and managed with over-the-counter medication.

How long do implants last?

With proper care — brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits — implants can last 20–30 years or more. The crown may need to be replaced after 15–20 years with normal wear.
